Crooks and Castles Size Guide

Measure your own body, not a garment you already own. A chest or waist measurement taken with a soft tape gives you a number to compare with the. Crooks and Castles chart, and that comparison is more reliable than a label from another store.

Hoodies, Sweatshirts and Tees

For tops, the chest measurement decides the size. Find your chest number in the chart and pick the size that matches it. Hoodies and crewnecks are cut with room to layer, so if you like a closer fit, check the garment measurements on the product page before choosing. Tees follow the same chart. If your chest falls between two sizes, the questions further down this page explain which way to go, depending on how you like the piece to sit on your shoulders and through the body.

The last rows in each chart refer to the garment itself, measured flat, so you can compare them with a piece you like.

Sweatpants and Other Bottoms

For bottoms, the waist and hip decide the size. Measure both and use the larger of the two, since a waistband with a drawcord can be tightened but a narrow hip cannot be made wider. The inseam tells you how the leg will fall at the ankle.

Waist and hip have their own columns, and the inseam is listed for each size, so you can check the leg length as well as the fit at the top.

Matching Sets

A matching set means two garments, and the top and bottom can fit differently on the same person. Use the chest for the top and the waist and hip for the bottom, and if the two point to different sizes, choose each piece in its own size where the product page allows it.

How to Measure Yourself

You need a soft tape and a couple of minutes. Stand relaxed with your arms down and keep the tape level all the way around.

  1. Chest: around the fullest part, with the tape under both arms.
  2. Waist: the slimmest point between your ribs and hips, usually just above the belly button.
  3. Hip: around the fullest part of your seat, with your feet together.
  4. Inseam: along the inside of the leg, from the crotch to where you want the hem to sit.

Three Things That Affect Your Measurement

  1. Measure in the clothes you would normally wear underneath.
  2. Keep the tape snug, never tight enough to press in.
  3. Ask someone else to measure your chest, since it is hard to keep the tape level on your own.
